To be honest, I discovered that I wasn&#8217;t really very good at maths and I took all the computing options because I found them easier! I was fortunate that this was at the time when computing was a growth industry and coupled with a move to the south of the UK I fell into a long career in IT, as a programmer, support engineer and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5); font-size: 1rem;\">occasional project manager<\/span><span style=\"background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5); font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 500;\">My 35 years or so in IT has been a rewarding experience, but some years ago I felt I needed a change. My experience of counselling, which you can read about\u00a0<a title=\"My counselling journey\" href=\"https:\/\/andywolagecounselling.co.uk\/index.php\/why-i-became-a-counsellor\/\">here<\/a>, led me to train as a counsellor. I feel an immense privilege in being able to work alongside people as they make positive change to their lives. I still work part time in the IT industry, alongside counselling.<\/p><p style=\"font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 500;\">I am married with an adult son and two cats. Aside from my family and cats, my passion is music. I wish I could play an instrument, but sadly my attempts to master the guitar have failed so far &#8211; but I love music of all kinds, especially when performed live.
